Organ Base

Origami Organ Base Instructions

Materials: A square piece of paper. Any size is fine, but 6x6 inches works well for beginners.

The organ base incorporates fundamental folding techniques. * Starting with the preliminary base, it includes valley and mountain folds, squash folds, and petal folds. Mastering these techniques sets the groundwork for greater understanding and skill in origami.

*The origami organ base is an essential model for creating various designs such as the lily and frog.

Step 1

Start with the Prliminary Base. Learn Preliminary Base HERE

Step 2

Take the left flap and fold to the center vertex. Align the top edge to the center vertex.

Unfold and open the flap and make a squash fold. Repeat on the other three flaps.

Step 3

You should now have a kite shape with four flaps (two flaps on each side).

Fold the model in half by lining the top to the bottom center point. Make a crease and unfold.

Fold the top left flap to the center vertex. Align the bottom edge to the center vertex.

Repeat on the opposite side.

Step 4

Create a petal fold. Open the pocket push the sides in and fold along the creases you just made.

Flip over and repeat steps 3 and 4 on the last three sides.

  • Your Organ Base is complete! It can now be transformed into a frog or lily. Happy Folding!
